About the role#
Engelhart offers a six-month internship program for individuals interested in the intersection of commodities markets, data, and trading. Interns work directly with North American Front Office teams in Houston and New York. You will participate in data-led projects that support commercial decision-making, forecasting, risk analysis, and market insight across power and gas markets. This is a full-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Analyze large market, trading, and fundamental datasets to identify insights for forecasting, valuation, and risk analysis.
- Develop, test, and improve analytical tools, models, dashboards, and workflows using Python.
- Support activities such as financial modeling, machine learning, statistical or econometric analysis, and quantitative optimization.
- Conduct market research and present findings to technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Contribute to day-to-day desk operations to build a practical understanding of how analytics supports trading and portfolio decisions.
What you'll need#
- A strong academic background in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Economics, Finance, or Computer Engineering.
- Strong Python skills with the ability to analyze, manipulate, and interpret complex data sets.
- Evidence of applying data analysis, coding, or quantitative methods to a practical problem.
- Business-level English proficiency.
- The legal right to work in the United States for the full duration of the internship.
