About the role#
As a Mechanic Intern, you will work with our equipment team to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. You will spend your time alongside experienced mechanics and technicians, learning how to maintain and repair heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers. This position is based in Springfield, Missouri, and runs during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers.
- Observe and participate in diagnosing equipment issues and developing solutions.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks to keep equipment running well.
- Maintain equipment-related reports, maintenance logs, and metrics.
- Follow safety procedures and regulatory requirements for all maintenance tasks.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant degree or technical program, such as Diesel/Heavy Equipment Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
- High school diploma or equivalent with a strong interest in the field.
- A basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfort working in both outdoor field settings and shop environments.
