About the role#
Baker Electric is hiring a Project Engineer Intern to join the operations team in Des Moines. This role involves rotating through different divisions to assist with project scopes, site surveys, estimates, and bid work. You will report to the VP of Operations and work closely with Project Managers to support the successful delivery of electrical construction projects.
What you'll do#
- Follow all federal, state, and local safety and health guidelines.
- Partner with Project Managers and other team members on daily operations.
- Handle administrative tasks such as timekeeping, vendor coordination, and warranty tracking.
- Collect historical data to assist with project updates and cost estimates.
- Attend site meetings and project walk-throughs.
- Review project timelines and communicate necessary updates.
- Assist with takeoffs and pricing changes.
- Escalate critical or sensitive issues to leadership with recommendations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in college courses related to construction or a similar field.
- A long-term interest in a construction career.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High standards for quality and attention to detail.
- Conscientiousness, personal responsibility, and dependability.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Familiarity with Windows, web-based applications, and construction or financial software.
