About the role#
El Paso Electric is hiring GRID Interns to support the Transmission, Substation, and Relay engineering department. You will gain hands-on experience by assisting with the infrastructure projects that keep the electric grid safe and reliable. This role involves working directly with professional engineers, contractors, and project teams to support project execution from planning through construction.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design, analysis, and engineering of Transmission, Substation, and Relay facilities.
- Review and evaluate project materials, equipment, and technical specifications.
- Support procurement activities, including material selection and vendor documentation.
- Participate in field visits, project inspections, and construction oversight.
- Complete assigned project tasks and deliverables within established schedules.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering standards and processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in a four-year college or university.
- Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Data Analytics, or Data Science.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Classification as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
- Ability to use software such as Excel, Word, and Project. Experience in AutoCAD is preferred.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license and comply with company driving requirements.
- Submission of a current transcript and resume.

- Compensation: $15 to $20 per hour, based on major and classification level.
