    About the role#

    This internship provides an opportunity to work collaboratively with project teams at a public policy consulting firm. You will conduct research, develop content, and contribute to client deliverables while gaining experience in a professional consulting environment. This position is based in the downtown Portland office.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct research following standard methods and best practices.
    • Identify and organize data and relevant sources of information.
    • Summarize information into clear tables and charts.
    • Prepare sections of written deliverables under the direction of project teams.
    • Assist in the development of presentations as needed.
    • Discuss findings with project teams to evaluate validity and contribute equity-focused insights.
    • Manage your time to meet project deadlines and provide regular progress updates.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a master’s-level planning, urban studies, or public policy degree program at an Oregon university.
    • Expected graduation date by July 2028.
    • Completed coursework in macro and microeconomic theory, land use planning, or transportation planning.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
    • Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Portland, Oregon (on-site).
    • Term: Fall 2026 (late August or early September through mid-December).
    • Schedule: Part-time, 15 to 20 hours per week. In-person work is requested ideally Tuesday through Thursday, with flexibility for graduate course schedules.
    • Compensation: $20 per hour.
    • Status: Non-exempt, part-time.
