About the role#
This is a temporary, part-time internship at East Tennessee Children's Hospital for current TCAT students. You will work 24 hours per week under the guidance of IT staff to gain practical experience in a hospital environment. This role involves performing technical tasks of increasing complexity as you build your skills in system analysis, hardware configuration, and software installation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with help desk calls, scheduling, and ticket management.
- Perform computer imaging, staging, and installation tasks.
- Record all user inquiries in the service desk system from initial call to resolution.
- Document day-to-day technical problems to help expand the knowledge database.
- Reset user passwords while following security standards.
- Provide support for basic hardware, network, and software issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to manufacturer standards.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current TCAT student.
- An Associates degree is preferred, or you should be currently enrolled in Computer Science or a related field.
- Understanding of operating systems, software installation, and test procedures.
- Knowledge of security and operational requirements.
- Familiarity with clinical and financial systems.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
