About the role#
DOWL is seeking a Water and Wastewater Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position provides engineering support on a variety of projects, offering mentorship to students interested in water resources engineering. You will gain experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, project design, and field work while working alongside experienced engineers.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations, technical report writing, and construction inspection.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design projects.
- Tabulate bid items and calculate construction quantities to estimate costs.
- Complete hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and HY-8.
- Analyze alternative solutions and complete other engineering tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college-level coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on water preferred.
- A valid driver license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret technical journals, drawings, and mathematical instructions.
- Capability to work with geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of ARC GIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in construction or civil engineering fields is a plus.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
