About the role#
We are seeking a civil engineering student for our Summer 2027 Transportation Design Internship in Bend, Oregon. This full-time, paid position offers hands-on experience across our various service areas, including transportation, structures, and construction services. You will work alongside experienced professionals on infrastructure projects to build practical skills.
What you'll do#
- Research and document existing conditions at project sites through site visits.
- Perform engineering calculations and assist with manual or AutoCAD drafting.
- Coordinate with government agencies and clients to obtain design information and approvals.
- Prepare project correspondence and maintain records.
- Monitor construction quality and progress during site visits.
- Assist with writing construction specifications, tabulating bid items, and estimating construction costs.
- Support survey crews, perform construction inspections, and conduct materials testing.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college-level coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project software.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts like probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to read and interpret technical journals and define problems to draw valid conclusions.
- Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering is helpful.
- AutoCAD knowledge is highly desirable.
