About the role#
DOWL is looking for a Surveying Intern to join our team for the summer of 2027. You will provide surveying assistance across our Civil and Land Development, Construction, Water and Environmental, and Transportation and Structures practice areas. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Eugene, Oregon.
What you'll do#
- Perform survey-related office tasks as assigned.
- Check survey field notes, compute traverses and level loops, and edit data files to merge with survey control.
- Prepare survey control drawings for permanent records.
- Draft topographic base maps, property surveys, and subdivision plats.
- Research subdivision plats, legal records, and utility as-builts.
- Assist with field duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college-level coursework toward a degree in Land Surveying, civil engineering, or a similar field.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Windows-based programs. Experience with Civil 3D is preferred.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts, including geometry, trigonometry, probability, and statistical analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical instructions in diagram or mathematical form.
- A valid driver's license.
- Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering is helpful.

- This position requires the ability to walk and hike through rough terrain, including snow and ice. You may occasionally need to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks like driving stakes and rebar.
