About the role#
The Wall Street Journal Graphics Internship is a 10-week summer program based in New York. It offers students the chance to work in a professional newsroom while receiving mentorship and training. This is a paid, part-time opportunity for individuals who are returning to school in the fall.
What you'll do#
- Produce visual journalism that is both compelling and editorially strong.
- Create data-driven interactives, maps, charts, and other explanatory graphics.
- Work independently and collaborate with teams to complete projects.
- Learn WSJ systems and best practices for information graphics.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a college junior or enrollment in a graduate degree program.
- Completion of at least one prior reporting internship at a professional media organization, or a portfolio of exceptional work from a campus outlet or freelance projects.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Datawrapper.
- Ability to work independently under deadline pressure.
- A commitment to high journalistic standards.
- An interest in business reporting is a plus.
- Experience with data analysis, data-driven projects, or responsible AI experimentation is encouraged.
- Front-end development skills are a bonus.
