About the role#
As a Machine Learning Intern, you will address challenges in machine learning and artificial intelligence. You will conduct research that applies across our engineering teams and participate in external collaborations. Your work will support our global logistics infrastructure, which powers our marketplace for consumers, merchants, and dashers. This is a 12-week summer internship program.
What you'll do#
- Perform research in areas such as Auction, Game theory, Recommender systems, Ranking, AdTech, Computer Vision, Causal Inference, and Big data analytics.
- Use research in ML, NLP, RecSys, and Graph analysis to solve real-world problems in discovery, ads, forecasting, fulfillment, and search.
- Build, analyze, and synthesize findings from data to develop relevant ML models.
- Contribute to and execute research ideas to improve our product experience.
- Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a PhD in Computer Science, ML, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Mastery of at least one systems language, such as Java, C++, Python, Kotlin, or GoLang.
- Mastery of at least one ML framework, such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, or MLFlow.
- Experience in research and solving analytical problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- A passion for applied ML and the DoorDash product.
- Ideally, experience with publications in machine learning, AI, data science, or related technical fields.

- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in San Francisco, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, New York City, NY, or Seattle, WA.
