About the role#
The Canada Sales Tax Intern supports our Canadian Sales Tax team with GST/HST, QST, and PST overpayment reviews, audit support, and refund filings. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work alongside experienced consultants to analyze data, conduct tax research, and prepare client deliverables. This role offers exposure to Canadian indirect tax compliance and consulting.
What you'll do#
- Assist with Canadian sales tax reviews by supporting data analysis and introductory tax research.
- Import, organize, and validate client data used for recovery and exposure analysis.
- Review vendor invoices and locate supporting documentation.
- Enter, organize, and maintain data using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Support the preparation of client reports and tax refund claim documentation.
- Assist with vendor communications for refund follow-ups under supervision.
- Research basic Canadian commodity tax questions and summarize findings for the team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with an interest in data analysis and problem-solving.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and collaborate in a team environment.
- Prior coursework in taxation, accounting, or finance is preferred.
- Exposure to SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems is a plus.
