About the role#
The AV Intern supports the University Catholic Center by preparing for and monitoring audiovisual needs for events requiring live recording or streaming. This position reports to the Director of Evangelization and Communications and requires the use of independent judgment and initiative. The role is for the 2026-2027 academic year and involves ministry work closely connected to the mission of the Church.
What you'll do#
- Assist with setting up microphones, projectors, monitors, and cables for events in the Holy Spirit Chapel, John Paul Hall, and other locations.
- Manage livestreaming and recording of events.
- Monitor lighting and audiovisual equipment during events.
- Upload recorded talks and events to YouTube and other platforms.
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Participate in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at UT Austin for the 2026-2027 calendar year.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Experience with live audiovisual work, including equipment setup, mixing, and sound monitoring.
- Familiarity with social media posting and video uploading.
- Ability to maintain compliance with Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry policies.
- Majors in Communications, Media Studies, or Business Administration are preferred.
