About the role#
This position is for a Student Teaching Assistant for the PRJ-3000-3050 3D Game Animation course. You will support student game teams throughout the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms. This role requires on-site work and is open to current DigiPen students who meet the academic requirements.
What you'll do#
- Assist students with the game art creation pipeline, from early proxies to final assets.
- Review and advise on skeletons, rigs, and planned animations.
- Help teams resolve issues with 3D art, camera settings, lighting, and material shaders.
- Provide verbal and written feedback to teams and report progress or issues to instructors.
- Support teams with production planning, scope feasibility, and best practices for team management.
- Maintain ongoing communication with instructors and game teams outside of scheduled lab hours.
What you'll need#
- A solid foundation as a generalist in 3D art production.
- Experience creating a 3D game in Unity or Unreal with significant art contributions.
- Applied knowledge of painting software and 3D art fundamentals.
- Ability to evaluate team issues and articulate solutions clearly to students and instructors.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to help others learn.
- Ability to work effectively both in person and remotely.
- Accountability for tracking and reporting your own work hours.
- Must be a matriculated student at DigiPen with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and have passed PRJ-3050 or PRJ-352 with a B or better.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington.
- Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 (August 31, 2026, to April 23, 2027).
- Commitment: Up to 8 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Note: Work hours must be scheduled outside of your own class times and the Junior Lab hours (Monday 2:00 - 4:50 PM and Thursday 2:00 - 5:50 PM).
