About the role#
Open World Student Staff serve as instructors and event support for K-12 students. You will work alongside co-teachers to lead workshops, afterschool programs, and special events. The goal is to create a safe, supportive, and fun learning environment where students can explore new fields and develop their skills.
What you'll do#
- Work with a co-teacher for K-12 afterschool sessions, monthly events, and special activities.
- Engage students through interactive, hands-on learning.
- Maintain a safe, productive, caring, and fun environment for all participants.
- Communicate professionally with parents, students, and team members.
- Help answer questions from students and parents.
- Assist in the set-up, breakdown, and preparation of activities.
- Adapt to changing student needs and support all learners.
What you'll need#
- Must be a currently matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
- Knowledge in one or more of the following: computer science, art or animation, game design, robotics, or music and sound design.
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-teachers and other team members.
- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Ability to engage and connect with children and teens.
- Ability to provide a supportive experience to all students.
- Completed high school.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, stooping, or kneeling.
- Must pass a criminal background check and a 5-panel non-THC drug screen.
Location & details#
- Location: DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond, Washington, and other nearby locations as scheduled.
- Modality: On-site only.
- Term: Fall 2026 through Spring 2027 (August 31, 2026 - June 4, 2027).
- Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, with specific schedules varying based on program needs. Students are not permitted to work during any time they have a class scheduled.
- Compensation: Starting rate of $20 per hour, with up to $30 per hour for returning staff with prior K-12 program experience. This position is not benefits-eligible.
