    About the role#

    Dewberry is hiring a Traffic/Electrical and Highways Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join the Transportation Group in either the Bloomfield, NJ or Mt. Laural, NJ office. This paid, full-time position provides hands-on experience with roadway and transit projects. Interns participate in workshops, networking events, and a summer-long group project alongside firm leaders.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and technicians on transit and roadway projects.
    • Assist with field investigations, traffic analysis, and construction support tasks.
    • Prepare construction cost estimates and project quantities.
    • Design traffic signals and signal timings according to agency standards.
    • Create traffic signal plans.

    What you'll need#

    • You are currently pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Previous internship experience is preferred.
    • Experience with MicroStation is preferred.
    • Task management and leadership skills are preferred.

    • Locations: Bloomfield, New Jersey or Mt. Laural, New Jersey.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Pay: $18.75 to $29.75 per hour.
    • Note: Local candidates are preferred. No housing stipend is provided. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available.
