About the role#
Dewberry is hiring a Construction Project Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in our Ashland, VA office, you will join the Dewberry Design Build team to support construction projects from concept through completion. You will receive direct mentoring from construction managers while gaining hands-on experience in a multi-discipline environment.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with project managers and team leaders to develop, execute, and monitor project plans.
- Assist the team with purchasing activities.
- Support the submittal review process.
- Help maintain and update project schedules.
- Participate in professional development workshops, networking events, and a summer-long group project.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and either AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and solve problems with a focus on solutions.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Ability to stand for long periods on varied surfaces, and to repetitively bend, stoop, crawl, squat, and lift 50 lbs.
- Previous construction internship experience is a plus.
