About the role#
The Accounting Assistant I provides administrative support for business operations at the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance. This is an off-campus Federal Work Study position reporting to the Executive Director and Fiscal Manager. You will assist with monthly agency reporting and help maintain accurate financial records.
What you'll do#
- Review and enter cash receipts and accounts payable data.
- Verify accounts payable for accuracy and prepare checks for payments.
- Assist with general ledger data input.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations.
- Prepare fiscal reports for funders and audit purposes.
- Assist with the annual audit and other financial statement preparation.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accounting or business administration program.
- Minimum of six credits per semester.
- GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and stay organized.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software is a plus.
