About the role#
As an AI App & Tool Development Intern, you will design and build AI-powered tools, automation, and product improvements to help our teams work more effectively. You will work directly with the Application Advisory team, engineers, and consultants to identify high-friction workflows and turn them into functional solutions. This role involves writing code that ships, prototyping quickly, and iterating based on direct user feedback.
What you'll do#
- Build and enhance internal tools and applications for the Application Advisory team.
- Identify repetitive or manual workflows that can be improved through software, AI, or automation.
- Design and prototype new tools based on business and user requirements.
- Develop AI-powered workflows using LLM orchestration, RAG, agentic patterns, and Azure AI.
- Develop backend services and integrations using Python, SQL, APIs, and Azure technologies.
- Build and improve user experiences using JavaScript and React.
- Integrate Dayforce and internal systems to create connected workflows.
- Measure the impact of your builds through metrics like hours saved and workflow efficiency.
- Take successful prototypes beyond the proof-of-concept stage to create reliable tools.
- Document solutions and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Intermediate Python and SQL skills.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, with experience building or modifying UI components (React is a strong plus).
- Understanding of LLM and generative AI fundamentals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate loosely defined business problems into technical approaches.
- Comfort working in environments where requirements evolve.
- Ability to prototype quickly and strong communication skills.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 - August 2027).
- Location: Remote (Toronto, Ontario).
- Status: Full-time (37.5 - 40 hours weekly).
- Compensation: Paid internship.
