About the role#
Meta is seeking Research Scientist Interns to join the Meta Recommendation Systems team. You will work with a group of researchers and engineers to advance AI and machine learning technology. The team focuses on building infrastructure and models to improve recommendation systems across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. You will have the opportunity to conduct research that impacts Meta products at scale.
What you'll do#
- Lead research efforts and define milestones for recommendation systems, content understanding, and multi-modal LLM analysis.
- Develop original research with the goal of applying it to Meta products.
- Design, train, and support AI and machine learning libraries and models.
- Engage with the broader research community through publishing papers and releasing open source software.
- Communicate research plans and progress to cross-functional partners.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Intent to return to your degree program after the internship.
- Experience with Python and deep learning libraries like PyTorch and Transformers.
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning modeling and algorithmic techniques.
- Experience building systems based on machine learning or deep learning methods.
- A history of results, such as publications at major conferences, patents, grants, or fellowships.
- Software engineering experience through internships, work, coding competitions, or open source contributions.
- Prior project or research experience in areas such as recommendation systems, sequence modeling, user modeling, reinforcement learning, LLMs, or agents.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Must obtain and maintain work authorization in the United States.
