About the role#
This Summer 2026 internship within the Legacy Business Unit focuses on the standardization of the tooling room using 5S methodology. The goal is to create a highly organized, efficient, and safe workspace by ensuring only necessary items are present, every tool has a designated location, and cleanliness is maintained. You will lead efforts to remove obsolete tools, develop visual management systems, and promote daily adherence to 5S standards.
What you'll do#
- Demonstrate an understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Achieve full 5S compliance in the tooling room to reduce waste and improve productivity.
- Establish clear visual management systems for all tools and materials.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability among team members.
- Document and propose processes and outcomes to support future standardization initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or postgraduate program (sophomore status or higher) in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Strong analytical, synthesis, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or CATIA V5.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present new concepts clearly.
- Must reside in the United States.
