About the role#
This is a full-time, paid summer internship within the Manufacturing Engineering department. You will collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, and production teams to improve installation instructions for aircraft completion systems and components. The role focuses on identifying non-quality risks, establishing new checkpoints to reduce rework, and creating value stream maps to evaluate the efficiency of installation and testing operations.
What you'll do#
- Demonstrate an understanding of aircraft component production processes for detailed parts.
- Identify manufacturing needs that require new universal holding fixtures.
- Propose agile manufacturing processes that align with quality assurance and supply chain requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or postgraduate degree program in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum sophomore standing.
- Residency in the United States.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks or CATIA V5.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and synthesis skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present new concepts clearly.
