Summer Intern - Engineering Cabinetry Design Improvements

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid summer internship for 2026 within the Engineering department. You will focus on cabinetry design improvements, working on specific projects to develop and propose engineering solutions. Training in Catia V5 and VPM will be provided to assist with your research and design tasks.

What you'll do#

• Identify cabinet designs with high-risk burn failure build-ups and research suitable substrate replacements.
• Research and propose a design for a new side stowing door mechanism to improve installation and quality.
• Develop a design to improve the junction at the F6X Fwd Lav/Galley header area to resolve installation and gap issues.
• Follow up on previous project Engineering Work Orders (EWOs) that require testing on the aircraft.
• Conduct internet research for potential replacement parts.
• Create Product Change Sheets (PCS) to present new ideas to the facility for input.
• Participate in project progress reviews and deliver a final presentation on your work and status.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
• Residency in the United States.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to collaborate with multiple departments inside and outside of design engineering.
• Mechanical Engineering major preferred.

• Compensation: $20.00 per hour, eligible for overtime.
