About the role#
This 13-week summer internship focuses on subsurface resource exploration and management within the geothermal industry. You will work alongside the Cyrq Energy Geothermal Resources team to gain hands-on experience. The program runs from mid-May to mid-August 2027, with potential flexibility for school schedules. You will be assigned a project tailored to your discipline, such as geologic mapping, reservoir geochemical characterization, well-field optimization, or geoscience data management.
What you'll do#
- Build a working knowledge of geothermal systems by combining independent study with mentorship.
- Develop a project roadmap and complete your assigned objectives over the 13-week term.
- Deliver a final report and recommendations based on your project outcomes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Reservoir Engineering, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to travel domestically to field and office locations up to 5% of the time.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate technical information clearly in English.
- Ability to work in an office setting during standard business hours.
- Physical capability to work in remote, outdoor environments and difficult weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, work at heights up to 50 feet, and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Physical ability to stand, twist, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders while navigating uneven ground.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Reno, Nevada.
- The term is Summer 2027.
