About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor and District Leader to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role prepares you for a future Pharmacist position by deepening your understanding of operations, patient safety, and clinical standards.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled accurately.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at every workstation.
- Provide caring service by showing empathy to patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call to clarify or facilitate medication changes.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowed by law.
- Educate patients about vaccines, obtain informed consent, and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, and lift up to 20 lbs.
