About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap, gaining experience in store, district, and regional operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy tasks and team collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and collect medical history information.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify details as needed.
- Complete inventory activities, including cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Support immunizations by preparing and administering vaccines, where permissible by law and state regulations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or progress toward obtaining, a valid intern or technician license.
- Ability to work a part-time schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in mathematical reasoning for tasks like calculating dosages and day supplies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to focus on detail-oriented tasks.
