Cummins Inc. is offering Information Technology Summer Internship positions for Summer 2026. This program provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by contributing to real-world projects within our Corporate Business units. Interns will work on-site in Columbus, Indiana, as part of a full-time, 40-hour-per-week commitment.
What you'll do#
Depending on the specific assignment, interns will contribute in areas such as business analysis, application support, technical infrastructure, quality assurance, security, software development, or project coordination. Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with business functions to define, analyze, and document requirements for information systems.
- Providing technical expertise for application software solutions, including configuration, design, and functionality gap resolution.
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications and coordinating the construction, installation, and testing of IT systems.
- Developing test methodologies and executing plans to ensure high-quality system performance.
- Defining information security policies and investigating potential security breaches.
- Developing software programs according to technical specifications and performing code diagnostics.
- Assisting with project management tasks and providing administrative support for project teams.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Business Administration.
- Ability to commit to a duration of 10 to 12 weeks.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 is preferred.
- Strong foundational skills in solution functional fit analysis, testing, and technical communication.
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn from team members.
