About the role#
This is a 10-week summer internship program with the Positive Train Control (PTC) team at CSX. You will work alongside a mentor and senior leadership to contribute to projects involving technology, law, and policy. The program runs from May 24, 2027, to July 30, 2027, and includes cross-functional learning, local onsite visits, and executive networking sessions.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with PTC teams to prepare and organize submissions to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
- Compile and analyze PTC performance data.
- Identify trends, issues, or anomalies in reporting data for management review.
- Research and summarize FRA regulations, guidance, and industry standards.
- Assist in the development of recurring reports.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You are an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in systems engineering, computer engineering, computer science, business administration, information technology, or law.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale is required.
- You must successfully complete a background check and drug test.
- Strong skills in time management, organization, and communication are expected, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and programming languages like Python or Java.

- This position is based in Jacksonville, Florida, with options for on-site, hybrid, or remote work.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- Work hours may vary and include a non-standard workweek.
- The role may require travel up to 5% of the time and occasional work at elevated heights.
