About the role#
CSC Generation maintains a portfolio of brands that run on a mix of legacy systems using .NET, Python, JavaScript, and Java. These applications are critical to daily operations. We need an intern to help keep these systems healthy while modernizing how they are built, tested, deployed, and monitored. You will own the maintenance and incremental improvement of these systems by building CI/CD pipelines, increasing test coverage, containerizing applications, and adding observability. This is a lean team where you will have end-to-end responsibility for your work.
What you'll do#
- Maintain, debug, and enhance legacy applications written in .NET Framework, Python, JavaScript, and Java.
- Analyze and resolve production issues with minimal downtime.
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using AWS services, Docker, and Ansible.
- Containerize legacy applications and orchestrate deployments.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Write and optimize SQL queries, administer relational database systems, and implement safe migrations.
- Develop and integrate automated unit and integration tests to increase coverage.
- Implement logging, metrics, and tracing across legacy applications to detect issues proactively.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or current enrollment in a 4-year program.
- Demonstrated experience with at least two of the following: .NET Framework, Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFormation, or CodePipeline.
- Proficiency with Docker containerization and Ansible for infrastructure automation.
- Strong SQL query writing and optimization skills.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting relational databases like SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests using frameworks like xUnit, NUnit, JUnit, pytest, or Jest.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, CloudWatch, or Datadog is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code principles and agile development practices is a plus.
