About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced engineers to design and build custom automation equipment. You will help refine design concepts into practical, manufacturable products that meet specific performance, durability, and cost targets. This role reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and provides mentorship to help you grow your skills in automation.
What you'll do#
- Update part models and technical drawings.
- Maintain Bills of Material.
- Support the Lead Mechanical Engineer on various projects.
- Assist with hands-on assembly, testing, design, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Contribute to multiple projects throughout the day.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to find solutions that meet functional outcomes within budget and timeline constraints.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong math aptitude and the ability to perform basic calculations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- An understanding of mechanical systems and a hands-on approach to learning.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to customer or vendor facilities when required.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift up to 25 pounds as part of regular duties.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Positions are located in Bridgman, Michigan, and Auburn Hills, Michigan.
- This role is on-site.
