About the role#
The Estimating Intern supports our estimating team with cost analysis, subcontractor coordination, and project documentation. This full-time summer role provides hands-on experience in the preconstruction phase of building projects. You will work on-site to assist with gathering data and maintaining accurate project records.
What you'll do#
- Assist with quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and cost comparisons.
- Manage subcontractor lists and contacts while researching products and suppliers.
- Maintain estimating databases and project records.
- Visit project sites to collect data on topography, utilities, and site access.
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Support bid development by preparing expenditure statements and managing tender documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A foundational understanding of construction processes, terminology, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and analyzing costs.
- Basic knowledge of cost estimating principles, quantity takeoffs, and unit pricing.
