About the role#
The Valerie Friedman Emerging Journalist Radio Talk Show Production internship supports the production and development of flagship daily and weekly programs at Connecticut Public. This role offers an opportunity to work in a learning environment focused on producing, writing, and editing content for both live and pre-taped shows. Interns will receive training in website production, audio production, radio continuity, and remote recording while contributing to shows covering current events, politics, social trends, and the arts.
What you'll do#
- Act as the first point of contact for guests.
- Assist with and gather person-on-the-street interviews for show segments.
- Conduct research on show topics and share content online.
- Deliver content on tight deadlines with precision timing.
- Write, edit, and post articles for online publication.
- Screen phone calls during live broadcasts.
- Attend show planning meetings and support the generation of ideas.
- Support administrative and technical show needs.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of Adobe programs or other video and audio editing software.
- Ability to arrive in the virtual or on-site space when scheduled and meet deadlines.
- Skill in conducting credible research.
- Basic knowledge of production techniques.
- Familiarity with social media and website editing.
- Pursuit of a degree in Journalism, Media Studies, or Communications.

- Term: Fall 2026 (September 21, 2026, through November 13, 2026).
- Work Modality: Hybrid or remote options available.
- Hours: Maximum of 20 hours per week.
