About the role#
The Nurse Intern supports patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with essential care tasks and help maintain a therapeutic environment. This role focuses on hands-on learning and collaboration with the healthcare team to provide safe and organized care.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic patient care within your scope of practice, including vital sign monitoring and hygiene assistance.
- Communicate effectively with the care team, report changes in patient conditions, and participate in bedside shift reports.
- Develop clinical skills by seeking feedback and applying practices under the guidance of an RN.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in patient rooms and shared workspaces.
- Assist with basic equipment maintenance for items like glucometers, bladder scanners, and scales.
- Perform hourly rounding and purposeful patient interactions to build therapeutic relationships.
- Document all tasks and observations clearly and accurately according to facility standards.
- Maintain regular attendance and comply with all hospital policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Nursing program.
- Completion of fundamentals of clinicals in an accredited Nursing program.
- 0 to 1 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- A basic understanding of patient care procedures and medical terminology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and staff.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and compliance.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe and therapeutic patient environment.
- Required certifications include CPR from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute, and a Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the State Department of Public Safety.
