About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction operations. You will work with project teams to plan and build infrastructure projects while learning how to manage resources and costs. The program includes mentorship and opportunities to apply classroom concepts to real business operations.
What you'll do#
- Support the company safety culture and follow all environmental, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Help project teams plan sequential steps for construction projects, including bid processes and contract development.
- Monitor project safety, costs, and schedules.
- Coordinate material purchases, deliveries, and tracking.
- Engage with customers to help maintain professional relationships.
- Operate heavy equipment and perform manual or skilled labor tasks as needed.
- Complete specific projects assigned as part of the internship requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A valid driver license and a clean driving history.
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds and work on uneven terrain.
- Previous construction or internship experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of bidding or take-off software is a plus.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Rapid City, South Dakota.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
- Travel is required and may include overnight stays.
- You must be able to wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
