About the role#
The Liquid Quality Control Internship at Colas provides students with hands-on exposure to laboratory operations within the construction industry. This full-time, paid position runs during the Summer 2027 term and focuses on applying classroom knowledge to real-world projects in an industrial setting.
What you'll do#
- Support the company safety culture and follow all workplace conduct and ethical policies.
- Work in an industrial laboratory environment.
- Learn the basics of bituminous chemistry, rheology, and viscosity measurement methods.
- Handle chemicals while following laboratory and EPA safety protocols.
- Manage chemical inventory and update Safety Data Sheets in 3E Online.
- Work with samples of asphalt, polymers, and other chemicals.
- Perform assigned manual and skilled labor tasks.
- Complete additional projects required by the internship program.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Chemistry or a related science field.
- A valid driver license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to wear and maintain personal protective equipment.
- Capacity to lift or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and walk across uneven terrain.
