About the role#
COCM is hiring a Desk Assistant for student housing at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. You will handle customer service and administrative tasks for residents of Brottier, St. Martin, and McGinley Halls. This is a part-time, on-site role with a pay rate of $10.50 per hour. You can work up to 20 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and academic breaks.
What you'll do#
- Monitor building entryways and greet residents and visitors.
- Manage guest and equipment sign-in procedures and report security issues.
- Assist residents with lockouts and guide them through the work order system.
- Provide customer service via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Act as a referral agent for campus resources.
- Sort, record, and forward mail and packages for staff and residents.
- Create fliers, social media content, and office documents.
- Maintain organization of desk areas, study lounges, and common spaces.
- Attend all required training and meetings.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment as a student at a post-secondary institution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment like copiers and phones.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Preference is given to Duquesne University students and residents of Brottier, St. Martin, and McGinley Halls.
