About the role#
The Cleveland Guardians are offering a summer 2027 internship for graduate athletic training students. This program provides immersive clinical experience in professional baseball. You will work alongside certified athletic trainers, physicians, physical therapists, and strength and conditioning staff. All hands-on tasks occur under the direct supervision of the medical staff.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of baseball-related injuries.
- Manage daily athletic training room operations and facility sanitation.
- Provide coverage for practices, games, and workouts.
- Support player hydration, recovery, and maintenance programs.
- Document medical information using the organization’s electronic medical record system.
- Coordinate with medical, performance, coaching, and player development personnel.
- Monitor adherence to MLB and organizational health and safety protocols.
- Handle field and hydrotherapy room setup, maintenance, and breakdown.
- Complete administrative duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a CAATE-accredited graduate athletic training program, or recent graduation with interest in advanced experience.
- Strong interest in professional baseball and sports medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
- Spanish language proficiency is preferred for assignments in the Dominican Republic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work outdoors in extreme heat, and lift up to 55 pounds.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours based on the baseball schedule.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- Primary locations include Goodyear, Arizona, and San Antonio de Guerra, Dominican Republic.
