About the role#
The T&D Engineer Intern supports the engineering and design of transmission and distribution systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers to learn how electrical infrastructure is planned, designed, constructed, and maintained. This role allows you to apply your classroom knowledge to utility projects while developing technical and problem-solving skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with transmission and distribution design projects.
- Support the preparation and review of engineering drawings, calculations, project documents, and other technical deliverables.
- Research and evaluate project information to support engineering recommendations.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborate with engineering, operations, and other business teams.
- Track project materials, design needs, schedules, and technical updates.
- Learn how engineering standards, safety requirements, and design practices are applied to utility projects.
- Support improvements to engineering processes, procedures, and design activities.
- Share project findings or accomplishments with leaders at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or another applicable engineering discipline.
- Interest in electric utilities, infrastructure, engineering design, or project work.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies on the job.
- Ability to function effectively within a team environment.
- Capacity to present ideas and opinions in a respectful and collegial manner.
