About the role#
The Clean Harbors El Dorado Incinerator is looking for a Lab Chemist Intern for the Summer 2027 season. You will join a team focused on environmental, energy, and industrial services. This role provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals on real projects. You will learn about laboratory operations, safety protocols, and industry-specific analytical processes.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all workplace policies and OSHA regulations.
- Learn to analyze various metals, including mercury.
- Conduct wet chemistry testing, such as Chlorine and Fluoride analysis.
- Use analytical laboratory instruments including GC, IC, and ICP.
- Shadow supervisors and technicians during daily operations.
- Manage waste generated from procedures and assist with document control and data validation.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field at an accredited institution.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to document, record, and analyze data effectively.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar technical tools.
- Ability to work well within a professional team.
- Knowledge of wastewater, TOC, and ICP instrumentation is helpful. Calorimetry and flashpoint knowledge are also a plus.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for long hours.
