Summer Academy Intern [Ages 14-17]

About the role#

The Summer Academy Intern position supports the City of Atlanta Parks & Recreation department in managing youth summer camps. Interns work with children ages 5–12 to promote social, cultural, and historical awareness through an activity-based curriculum. This role is designed for individuals aged 14–17.

What you'll do#

• Supervise campers during daily activities to ensure a safe environment.
• Plan and implement recreational, educational, and social enrichment activities.
• Assist counselors with day-to-day camp operations and maintain facility and supply inventory.
• Provide exceptional customer service to both internal staff and external visitors.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings, complete reports, and instruct campers in emergency procedures.
• Participate in pool activities with campers during swim times.
• Attend the Atlanta Teen Leaders Academy on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

What you'll need#

• Must be an Atlanta Teen Leader Member.
• At least one year of experience working with youth.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and a drug screening.
• Valid work permit.

Location & details#

• Location: Atlanta, GA.
• Term: Summer 2026 (June 8th – July 24th).
• Schedule: Mandatory training takes place June 1st–5th, 2026. Interns work 6-hour shifts, 2 to 3 days per week (12–18 hours total per week). Vacation requests during the program period will not be approved.
• Compensation: Paid at $15.00 per hour.
