About the role#
The Healthy Market Food Pantry Student Worker supports the day-to-day operations of the pantry at Olive-Harvey College. This role involves manual tasks to receive, organize, and distribute food to students, staff, and the community. You will work under the direction of an assigned supervisor and alongside other student workers to keep the pantry running.
What you'll do#
- Stock and organize pantry shelves, refrigerators, and freezers with packaged food and fresh produce.
- Unpack food deliveries and prepare individual bags or boxes for distribution.
- Greet visitors and assist with check-in procedures.
- Provide information to visitors about pantry services and upcoming events.
- Maintain a welcoming environment for all participants.
- Assist with record-keeping tasks such as sign-in sheets and inventory tracking.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a City College of Chicago with at least 6 semester hours of pre-credit or credit classes.
- A minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Must be 16 years or older and eligible to work in the United States.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work in a diverse environment.

- Work is on-site.
- This is a part-time role with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
