About the role#
This is a Federal Work Study position for students at City Colleges of Chicago. You will support the Healthy Market Food Pantry and related food programs. This is a paid, part-time role with a maximum of 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff with the daily operations of the pantry and food support initiatives.
- Stock and organize shelves, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Unload and unpack food deliveries using carts or dollies.
- Greet visitors and help them check in for distribution.
- Answer questions about pantry services and events in person or by phone.
- Follow food safety and cleanliness guidelines.
- Assist with other food and basic needs projects.
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs as part of your regular duties.
What you'll need#
- You must be an active student at a City College of Chicago, enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and remain in good academic standing.
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and strong customer service skills.
- Communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms.
- Work effectively and respectfully in a culturally diverse environment.
- Be available to work flexible hours.
- Previous work experience is helpful but not required.
