About the role#
As an Underground Engineering & Construction Intern, you will support our team with analysis, planning, design, and construction services. You will work on projects related to potable water distribution, wastewater collection, private development, and new service requests. This role reports to leaders within the Underground Engineering & Construction group and offers hands-on experience through project work, professional development, and site visits.
What you'll do#
- Assist staff with technical support and project management tasks.
- Read and apply departmental design guides, engineering codes, and company policies.
- Comply with the Citizens Quality Program and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare basic engineering deliverables like drawings, reports, and studies.
- Perform research and provide recommendations for material or equipment selection.
- Collect and manage data for engineering projects.
- Prepare basic engineering calculations using standard methods.
- Focus on the needs of internal project teams.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a college or university program, having completed at least your freshman year.
- Studies in civil, mechanical, or general engineering, science, environmental studies, or construction management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project managers and staff engineers.
- Capability to work in a hybrid environment, including remote work and visits to local offices or site facilities.
- A valid Indiana driver's license and a safe driving record are preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 and Office Suite is preferred.
