About the role#
As a Process Safety Intern, you will work with Business Unit engineers to implement and maintain systems that reduce risk. You will assist in managing hazards, updating safety procedures, and communicating performance information to the HSSE Department. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate hazard analysis methods such as HazOp, LOPA, and what-if studies.
- Support the PHA Program and its full lifecycle.
- Develop strategies to reduce risk for high-consequence scenarios.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve safety issues.
- Participate in incident investigations and review cause maps to ensure lessons are implemented.
- Administer the refinery Management of Change (MOC) program.
- Develop and deliver safety training, lead team meetings, and give presentations.
- Identify and establish metrics to track leading indicators of safety performance.
- Provide technical support for process safety teams and programs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an ABET-accredited bachelor or master program for Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or Fire Protection Engineering.
- Completion of at least 30 semester hours in your major.
- An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
