About the role#
As a Reliability Engineer Intern, you will work at our oil refinery in McPherson, Kansas. You will provide technical support to our Mechanical Engineers and Inspectors to help maintain equipment performance. This role focuses on balancing operational goals with safety, environmental, and economic guidelines.
What you'll do#
- Assist with mechanical equipment design and participate in unit improvement projects alongside Process Engineers.
- Analyze inspection data and conduct fitness for service evaluations.
- Develop repair plans, select materials, and perform root cause failure analysis.
- Troubleshoot equipment performance and create maintenance recommendations.
- Complete projects involving equipment design, specification preparation, and integrity evaluations.
- Identify and report safety, health, or environmental concerns.
- Prepare technical reports and conduct research investigations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Mechanical or Civil Engineering program at a four-year college or university.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
- Previous internship experience in the petrochemical or refining industry is preferred.
