About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Summer 2027 internship opportunity for students pursuing degrees in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering. Analysts and Associates at Charles River Associates support complex security and privacy investigations, including data breaches and fraud. You will work on-site to provide technical expertise to law firms, corporations, and government agencies.
What you'll do#
- Conduct detailed forensic investigations and analyses of computers, networks, mobile devices, and removable media.
- Assist with security and privacy investigations in response to data security matters.
- Defensibly collect digital evidence and maintain strict chain-of-custody documentation.
- Leverage programming skills in Python, T-SQL, VBA, Excel, or C# to support forensic analysis and tool development.
- Communicate investigative findings to team members and clients through written reports and oral presentations.
- Stay current with evolving developments in digital forensics, software tools, e-discovery, and incident response.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidates graduating in December 2026 or Summer 2027.
- Strong understanding of computer operating systems, software, and hardware.
- Solid grasp of proper evidence handling procedures and chain-of-custody requirements.
- High-level familiarity with legal concepts related to intellectual property.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
