Cyber & Forensic Technology Consulting Analyst/Associate

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid Summer 2027 internship opportunity for Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidates. Analysts and Associates at Charles River Associates support high-stakes security and privacy investigations, including data breaches, fraud, and litigation. You will work within the Forensic Services, Cybersecurity, and E-Discovery practices to provide technical analysis and defensible solutions for clients.

What you'll do#

• Assist with security and privacy investigations in response to data security matters.
• Conduct detailed forensic investigations and analyses of computers, networks, mobile devices, and removable media.
• Defensibly collect digital evidence and maintain strict chain-of-custody documentation.
• Leverage programming skills—including Python, T-SQL, VBA, Excel, and C#—to automate tasks and expedite analyses.
• Communicate investigative and analytical findings to team members and clients, assisting in the drafting of technical reports.
• Stay current with industry developments in digital forensics, software tools, e-discovery, and incident response.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program with a graduation date of December 2026 or Summer 2027.
• Academic focus in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of computer operating systems, software, hardware, and proper evidence handling procedures.
• High-level familiarity with legal concepts related to intellectual property.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Locations: Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; New York, NY; Washington, DC.
• Modality: This is an on-site role. Expectation is to be in the office at least 3 to 4 days per week.
