About the role#
Centerstone Chattanooga is seeking interns to support school-based mental health services. This internship provides hands-on experience in a behavioral health setting, requiring interns to balance responsibilities between school sites and the clinic. This is an unpaid, part-time position that runs throughout the school year.
What you'll do#
- Provide assessments, case coordination, and individual, group, and family counseling under the supervision of a clinical supervisor or team leader.
- Shadow school-based staff to understand the expectations and daily operations of a school-based therapist.
- Maintain a dedicated caseload throughout the school year.
- Plan and lead at least one weekly group session, including resource preparation and clinical documentation.
- Adhere to 24-hour documentation standards for all client interactions.
- Attend weekly supervision sessions provided by Centerstone and fulfill supervision requirements mandated by your academic program.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor's degree and current enrollment as a student in good standing in a master's level counseling program (such as Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work).
- Ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule throughout the school year.
- Capability to meet physical requirements, including sitting for 80% of the workday and occasional standing, bending, or lifting.
