About the role#
Catholic Charities of Baltimore is hiring an Advocacy Fellow to support legislative and policy activities. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to engage with the advocacy team and experience the legislative process firsthand. The fellowship runs from November 1st, 2026, through April 30th, 2026. You will work Monday to Friday with flexible hours.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate logistics for Advocacy Day in Annapolis, including venue selection, managing RSVPs, catering, and event registration.
- Maintain legislative tracker documents and review or summarize proposed legislation.
- Schedule meetings with legislators and staff members.
- Compile data and draft summaries for the end-of-session Legislative Report.
- Provide administrative support to the Advocacy Workgroup by taking notes, preparing agendas, and tracking action items.
What you'll need#
- Current graduate or law student status, though undergraduate students with relevant experience may be considered.
- Academic focus in law, government, or public policy.
- Experience working in environments with tight deadlines.
- Commitment to social justice initiatives and comfort working on issues that impact underserved communities.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and act with discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Windows, web browsing, and Microsoft Outlook. Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Baltimore, Maryland.
- The role offers a hybrid work arrangement.
- Compensation is $22 per hour.
