2027 Engineering Corporate Internship Program Welding

About the role#

This internship program offers students the opportunity to work alongside engineering professionals on diverse projects. Interns will engage in a 12-week, full-time assignment focused on developing technical skills in welding and materials joining. Participants will gain exposure to various areas including research and development, facility welding engineering support, product development, automation, and supplier quality support. The role involves networking with management, conducting presentations, and participating in performance evaluations.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with a team on diverse projects and build professional relationships across the company.
• Apply engineering principles to design and implement welding and fabrication processes.
• Manage multiple tasks simultaneously while learning new technical skills.
• Contribute to an inclusive, productive, and collaborative work environment.
• Participate in performance evaluations and present project outcomes.

What you'll need#

• Current full-time enrollment in a 4-year university pursuing an ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, or Graphic Design.
• Completion of at least 24 semester hours from your current institution.
• A minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to relocate to the Peoria, Illinois area for the duration of the internship.
• Note: This pipeline is currently limited to candidates who have completed a Caterpillar Students & Graduates assignment within the previous 24 months.
