The 2027 Engineering Corporate Intern Program - Product Development Track offers students the opportunity to work alongside engineering professionals on active projects. Interns engage in a 12-week, full-time assignment designed to provide professional experience, networking opportunities with management, and exposure to various business areas. This program focuses on developing technical business skills through team collaboration and performance evaluations.
What you'll do#
Interns contribute to diverse projects and build technical abilities across several engineering disciplines. Key responsibilities include:
- Engineer components and systems for Caterpillar products.
- Develop and implement control system algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Apply mechanical engineering knowledge in test and validation environments, including troubleshooting.
- Design and test electronic control modules and components.
- Develop embedded software in C, C#, or C++ for electronic control modules.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a 4-year university pursuing an ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Agricultural, or Aerospace Engineering, or similar technical programs.
- Completion of at least 24 semester hours at your current institution before the internship begins.
- A minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
- Previous technical internship, co-op, or relevant research experience.
- Ability to relocate to the assigned work location and complete a daily commute using reliable transportation.

- Work Modality: On-site (5 days per week).
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Locations: Opportunities are available in Mossville, East Peoria, Peoria, and Pontiac, IL; Brooklyn Park, MN; Decatur, IL; Fort Worth, Denison, and Houston, TX; Lafayette, IN; Pittsburgh, PA; El Reno, OK; Schertz, TX; Rapid City, SD; Griffin and Alpharetta, GA; Clayton, NC; and West Fargo, ND.
- Status: This is a paid, full-time internship. Sponsorship is not available.
